Once an artist decides they want the opportunity to work on recording tracks at home and decisions must be taken. One of the first questions the artist should be asked is what level does that want to produce in this space? As an artist in your home studio be used to wash the ideas you take to another studio to record and control correctly? If your answer is yes that there are many inexpensive options available to you.

Several studios laptop it will allow you to work on projects virtually anywhere. An example of an analog studio is inexpensive the 414 Tascam. This recorder records on standard cassettes. The sound quality is very inferior to stand-alone digital recorders. The advantage is the low price of the equipment and the small size would you take with you on vacation, or virtually anywhere. You must mix your finished work to an external source. The tape that you record will play not in a normal cassette player. You have audio outputs that let you connect and mix your song. Look around different multi-track analog recorders.

This song has been recorded in Saudi Arabia in a dormitory. On these types of recorders you have 4 tracks. On a track I recorded the instrumental (Drums, bells, melody) that I created on a Ensoniq ASR-X. The next song, I recorded my friend Ron on guitar. I then recorded my voice on a third way. I probably rebounded (copied) and the instrumental guitar on the remaining runway, which was released more two tracks for voice and one overdubbed guitar track.

The second type is the portable studio digital studio independently. I used Boss BR-1180. The advantage to this machine is portability, and clarity. The drawback is price. You have more tracks at your disposal and lose less if you choose to bounce the tracks because you are facing a digital format. I model including a CD player that lets you mix all your tracks internally. Look around for other multi-track digital recorders.

These machines are great, but presents some challenges in collaboration with other artists. The instrumental of this song was made in New York and sent to California. Then, the audio was imported from using audio cables who lost a certain quality of sound. Our next choice solves this problem.

Finally, for me the best choice is a multi-track computer recorder based program.

I used Cool Edit and Protools. These recording programs allow you to import digital files like waves or mp3s if no quality is lost transferring files. You also have the option to record audio in real time that will make you very probably with your voice. They can be as mobile as other choices during installation on a laptop and the software allows almost unlimited change sound and editing. Check around some recording software muli-track a few times you can find demos and versions Free limited.
