Control synthesizers and effects while playing the Etherwave Plus Theremin or use as a standalone CV (Control Voltage) controller. The Etherwave Plus Theremin has all the great features and tone of Moog's standard Etherwave Theremin, which is based on one of the oldest electronic instruments. You play it without touching it by just moving your hands near its antennas. Used on great classic recordings like "Good Vibrations" and '50s sci-fi soundtracks, it adds amazing coloration to any performance or recording or can be played as a serious solo instrument. The Moog Plus Theremin portion of this particular model refers to the fact that it can not only be be used as a performance instrument but also as a controller. The CV outputs control signals are proportional to the pitch and volume of the Theremin's audio signal. Connect to the pitch and volume CV inputs of a Moog Little Phatty, Voyager, or other analog synthesizer for a completely new way to play your synth. These CV signals are not limited to pitch and volume control. Route them to any CV destination and create a new world of expression. Control anything from the cutoff frequency of a Moog Ladder Filter or the LFO Amount on a Moogerfooger Ring Modulator to the stereo panning on a Minimoog Voyager.Has all the great features and tone of Moog's standard Etherwave ThereminPitch & Volume CV Outputs: control a different CV parameter with each handGate Output: trigger envelopes and other eventsPitch Preview/Headphone Output: with volume control, lets you hear your note before the audience does.Power LED: instant visual power status on dark stages |

Theremin: Ether Music and Espionage $20.39 Leon Theremin led a life of flamboyant musical invention laced with daring electronic stealth. A creative genius and prolific inventor, Theremin launched the field of electronic music virtually singlehandedly in 1920 with the musical instrument that bears his name. The theremin -- the only instrument that is played without being touched -- created a sensation worldwide and paved the way for the modern synthesizer. Its otherworldly sound became familiar in sci-fi films and even in rock music. This magical instrument that charmed millions, however, is only the beginning of the story. As a Soviet scientist, Theremin surrendered his life and work to the service of State espionage. On assignment in Depression-era America, he became the toast of New York society while passing data on U.S. industrial technology to the Soviet apparat. Following his sudden disappearance from New York in 1938, Theremin was exiled to a Siberian labor camp and subsequently vanished into the top-secret Soviet intelligence machine, presumed dead for nearly thirty years. Using the same technology that lay behind the theremin, he designed bugging devices that eavesdropped on U.S. diplomatic offices and stood at the center of a pivotal cold war confrontation. Throughout his life, Theremin developed many other electronic wonders, including one of the earliest televisions and multimedia devices that anticipated performance art and virtual reality by decades. In this first full biography of Leon Theremin, Albert Glinsky depicts the inventor's nearly one hundred-year life span as a microcosm of the twentieth century. No less than a metaphor for the divergence of communism and capitalism, Theremin's life of espionage andinvention is an amazing drama of hidden loyalties, mixed motivations, and an irrepressibly creative spirit. |

Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey (DVD) $31.92 A documentary about the inventor of one of the first electronic instruments, the eponymous theremin (the sound of which quickly became cliched in science fiction films as the accompaniment to shots of flying saucers). The instrument produced its unusual sounds by using the player's hands to control the signals of an electromagnetic field. Its Russian-born inventor, Leon Theremin, went from playing his instrument for Lenin to breaking into show business in New York. Kidnapped by the K.G.B. in the late 1930s, Theremin was spirited back to the Soviet Union and forced to work on more espionage-related technology. The film reunites the inventor with his thereminist-protegee, Clara Rockmore, before his death in 1993. Winner of the Filmmaker's Trophy at the Sundance film festival.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital Stereo - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1.
