If your vehicle uses a fuel injection system, a fuel pump (FP) is required to send the fuel tank gas to the injectors. It must also apply the right amount of pressure for your engine to operate efficiently. An insufficient amount of fuel pressure results too little in the combustion chamber. This leads to a lean mixture, which can cause misfires and stalls. Too much pressure on the other hand, not to waste gasoline, generate pollution and cause your engine to run rough.
The FP is responsible for two jobs. First, as mentioned, it must deliver fuel under pressure, and it must do so between a certain range. Second, he must deliver a sufficient volume of gasoline. As all components, fuel pump may be failing to function properly. This article offers some suggestions for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
When your engine will not start
When the PS dies, it can prevent your engine from starting (even if it cranks). Pump control
Have a friend turn the key in the ignition to start the engine. Even if he or she is doing, listen for the fuel pump being engaged (you hear a ringing wet). Normally, when the key is turned, the control module powertrain (PCM) is committed in the PS for a few seconds to apply pressure. If your engine starts, the PF would continue to operate. In case your engine fails to start, PCM would turn off FP.
If you can not hear the pump working for the first few seconds after you start your engine, the component has probably been killed, it must be replaced. But suppose you can hear a buzz that the party is engaged. This suggests that the problem implies a lack of pressure.
